Multicolour ESL

Multi-coloured ESLs (Electronic Shelf Labels) are often used as Multicolour ESL or “multicoloured electronic price tags” and can display not only black and white, but also additional colours such as red or yellow. They work using so-called e-ink technology, in which microscopically small colour pigments in capsules are controlled by electrical impulses. Depending on the voltage, certain colour dots move to the surface and thus form the visible display. The display remains visible even without electricity, which greatly reduces energy consumption - electricity is only required for updating. What could initially only be displayed in red and yellow in addition to black and white is increasingly developing into convincing „colour“. This provides retailers with a cost-effective and technically less demanding alternative to digital displays.

The colour display allows important information such as special offers or promotions to be highlighted, which increases customer attention and improves the shopping experience. Multicolour ESLs help to automate retail processes, replace paper labels and thus work more efficiently and sustainably.

The content on the multicolour ESLs, such as prices, product information or promotional information, is controlled centrally via a wireless system, often using technologies such as ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or WLAN, as with simple ESLs. Software manages all labels in the shop and ensures automatic or manual updates.
