Successful active barn concept for pigs becomes an eye-catcher at the service counter of EDEKA Cramer stores in the Hanover area with the livestream solution tierwohl.tv. The live images from the organic laying hen house also score points on the egg shelf. Tierwohl.tv attracts the attention of consumers and promotes demand for the products shown, thus supporting animal welfare.

Weinheim, 02 September 2021 +++ Sebastian Cramer, owner of EDEKA Cramer, has opted for the livestream solution animalwelfare.tv in its markets. Since the end of April animalwelfare.tv live, consumers at the service counters of five e-centres in the Hanover area can gain a live insight into the conditions in which the animals whose meat can be purchased at the counter are kept. Customers can also take a look inside the organic henhouse at the egg shelf. Directly and live while shopping.
The livestream solution animalwelfare.tv supports EDEKA Cramer's corporate philosophy, which is characterised by freshness, quality and service. This also includes transparency: showing the customer where the food comes from, who is behind it and how it is produced. Part of the "Naturally Cramer - We know our suppliers personally" quality brand created for this purpose is that most of the added value is created in the region.
The family business, which is affiliated with EDEKA Minden-Hannover, has been anchored in the Hanover region for more than 70 years and is now in its 3rd generation. "Tradition is important to us, we are proud of where we come from, but without change there is no future," explains Sebastian Cramer "We have been focussing on regionality for many years and attitude is important to us. That's why we have also included products from glücksatt in our range, a premium programme that focuses on species-appropriate livestock farming. With the over animalwelfare.tv With the live images shown, we want to encourage our customers' demand for these Glücksatt products. By giving the consumer an honest and authentic look behind the scenes, we are underpinning credibility."
The broadcasts from inside the barn and the outdoor area are supplemented with additional information about the Glücksatt concept and emotional images of the farmer family's farm. All elements are combined to create an entertaining programme for the customer waiting at the counter. Another animalwelfare.tv-Consumers can find the new installation at the egg shelf, where live images of organic laying hens from Cassenshof in Inzmühlen are shown. EDEKA Cramer has a long-standing partnership with Cassenshof, which can now be presented transparently.
"We have been using the PRESTIGEenterprise communication platform for customer communication in our stores for years. Both for the content management of the various screens, including the screens on the scales at the service counters, as well as for the entire print volume, i.e. for posters, labels and ceiling hangers," adds Sebastian Cramer "That's why integrating the tierwohl.tv solution was easy."
The "Glücksatt" animals shown in the livestream grow up in an "active barn for pigs". This concept was launched in 2012 by Gabriele Mörixmann from Melle and represents an alternative form of husbandry between conventional and organic farming. It combines the advantages of both types of husbandry. Among other things, twice as much space (1.5 m²) as required by law, unrestricted access to the various areas of the barn (play and feeding area, resting area, rooting area) on straw and slatted floors, freely accessible outdoor terrace (fresh air) and no docking of curly tails.
The idea behind the glücksatt concept: meat of exceptional quality is only available through controlled origin, species-appropriate husbandry methods, respectful treatment of the animals and hygienically flawless processing methods. The animals should experience as little stress as possible - both during transport and slaughter. Stress hormones contradict the concept of animal welfare and reduce the quality of the meat. The high demands we place on our own actions and respect for the animals guarantee meat of exceptional quality. The animals are reared, slaughtered and processed regionally - all stages are communicated transparently and can be traced by the consumer.

animalwelfare.tva brand of Online Software AG, supports retailers and farmers in communicating their commitment to greater animal welfare to consumers in a convincing and credible way. The aim is to use live TV to give consumers in the food market an unvarnished view of the husbandry conditions and living conditions of the animals whose meat they buy and whose eggs they want to eat. And for which they are prepared to spend more money than for the meat of an animal kept in anonymous factory farming.
