EuroCIS 2018: Robotics and artificial intelligence in use at the POS

This is how voice assistants and robots with artificial intelligence will support the customer approach at the POS in the future

Weinheim, 26 February 2018 +++ Under the motto "Excellence at the POS - Shine with impressive customer communication", Online Software will be presenting brilliant solutions for multimedia marketing at the POS in Hall 9 D39 at EuroCIS 2018 from 27 February to 1 March 2018 and giving trade visitors a preview of future customer communication using voice assistants and a robot with artificial intelligence.

Robot assistant PAUL - Charming customer advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The Care-O-bot 4 robot assistant, PAUL for short, always welcomes customers to the store in a polite and courteous manner - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. PAUL can guide customers around the store and provide them with up-to-date information on products, prices and special offers. The robot's comprehensive service competences are based on the connection to existing software systems, context-sensitive voice interaction, facial recognition and VoIP connectivity. At EuroCIS, the charming electronic assistant will explain the innovative retail solutions from online software and manufacturer Mojin Robotics to visitors.

"After demonstrating in 2017 with the first Alexa applications for the retailer HIT and the restaurateur Hermanns, among others, that the new technologies for voice input and output can also be used at the POS, we are taking the next step this year. In addition to analysing the information collected via these intelligent customer communication systems with solutions from the field of artificial intelligence, this year's focus is on robotics," explains Volker Wissmann, CEO of Online Software AG. "Together with Dr Ulrich Reiser from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (Stuttgart), we have integrated the PAUL service robot into our PRESTIGEenterprise solution. PAUL is able to provide voice-based information about product ranges and products that we communicate to it via our PRESTIGEenterprise software solution. At the Online Software AG trade fair stand, he will demonstrate this by guiding visitors to individual exhibits and explaining them in sound and vision. All the data collected will then be fed back into our PRESTIGEenterprise system to optimise the product range. With our new PECM system (PRESTIGEenterprise Client Monitoring), we are really setting new standards in terms of big data analyses and live system management via dashboards."

Skill management for Alexa - voice control at the POS

More and more retail companies are already reaching their end customers at home via Alexa. Crisp offers, important news and information, e.g. on upcoming events, can be called up from Alexa at home via a customised retailer skill. Data maintenance via the PRESTIGEenterprise mobile portal is simple and very flexible.

But end customers can also use Alexa at the POS. With KIM Travel, they can ask Alexa about the latest travel offers and have the appropriate adverts displayed on the screen. With the KIM Shopping skill, the customer can ask Alexa for a product and PRESTIGEenterprise then plays a suitable offer on the screen and shows the way to the product.

Voice control in conjunction with PRESTIGE bots offers retailers completely new access to information from the PRESTIGEenterprise software. Via the interface to the Alexa voice system, it can answer questions about current POS systems and their content, for example. Retailers can obtain a status report on the existing data in PRESTIGEenterprise. This tells them briefly and concisely whether all screens have been supplied with content, all print jobs have been completed or how many visitors have opened their store app.

Together with solution partners Allgeier Enterprise Services, AOPEN, NEXGEN smart instore and Samsung Electronics, a broad spectrum of innovative ideas will be presented at the PRESTIGE Solution Campus in Hall 9 / D39. New solutions and ideas for a perfect customer approach based on the market-leading PRESTIGEenterprise software will be on display, with a special focus on data-drive solutions for relevant content and monitoring.
